My husband and I recently used Provincial Pest Conrrol when our tenant notified us that they had spotted a significant amount of mice scurrying around the basement unit of our rental. After making a call to this company, Provincial Pest Control was able to come the next day to do an assessment. The representative pinpointed that a family of mice had made a nest in some exposed insulation - which inevitably required treatment. He sent us a preliminary report with his findings and made a recommendation for treatment. We agreed to his recommendation and he proceeded to set up multiple interior and exterior chemical stations based on his expertise at what was needed to resolve the situation. The mice took the bait and within 2 weeks the extermination process was complete. Within the 2 week period, after multiple of the mice had died, there was a distinct foul smell coming from the electrical panel room where the nest was located and for a few days there were some noticeable flies - all part of the extermination process. As soon as we alerted Provincial Pest Control of this issue, they sent a representative to spray the area with commercial grade deoderizer which removed the smell completely within 4 hours. We were very happy with how quickly they acted on this. After a few days, all signs of flies were gone. The company sent us a detailed report and invoice after the treatment was complete, which included the details of services provided, cost and warranty. Provincial Pest Control gives a 3-month warranty, which allows us (landlords) as well as our tenant peace of mind. He assured us that the mice situation is resolved and we won’t need use the 3-month warranty, but it’s nice to know that the offer exists if we continue to experience issues in the coming weeks. This assurance kept our tenant and satisfied and at ease. Overall, my husband and I are very pleased with Provincial Pest Control. Their extermination services are reasonably priced (in comparison to other Ottawa companies) and they are very thorough with their initial inspection, extermination/treatment and follow-up, and post-inspection. Highly recommend their services!!

How to Effectively Get Rid of Pests: Our Comprehensive Guide

Welcome to our comprehensive guide on effective pest control methods. At Provincial Pest Control, we understand the frustration and inconvenience that pests can cause in your home or business. That’s why we have created this guide to help you effectively get rid of pests and regain control of your environment. In this article, we will provide you with detailed information and practical tips on pest prevention, identification, and elimination strategies. Let’s dive in!

Understanding Common Pests

Identifying and Dealing with Ant Infestations

Ant infestations can be a persistent nuisance, invading your kitchen, pantry, or outdoor areas. To effectively deal with ant infestations, follow these steps:

  1. Identification: Identify the ant species to determine the most suitable treatment method. Common species include carpenter ants, odorous house ants, and pavement ants.
  2. Elimination: Clean up food sources, seal entry points, and use ant baits or non-toxic repellents to target the colony.

Effective Methods for Controlling Roach Infestations

Roaches are resilient pests that can multiply rapidly if not addressed promptly. Here are effective methods for controlling roach infestations:

  1. Inspection: Identify their hiding places, such as dark corners, cracks, and crevices, and areas with moisture.
  2. Sanitation: Keep your surroundings clean, eliminate food and water sources, and seal any potential entry points.
  3. Treatment: Use roach baits, insecticide sprays, or boric acid to target roaches directly and disrupt their breeding cycle.

Natural Pest Control Remedies

While chemical treatments can be effective, many people prefer natural pest control remedies due to their safety and environmental benefits. Here are some natural methods to consider:

Essential Oils for Pest Prevention

Certain essential oils, such as peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus, are known to repel pests. Create a homemade spray by diluting these oils with water and apply it to areas prone to infestation.

Beneficial Insects for Garden Pest Control

Introducing beneficial insects like ladybugs, praying mantises, and nematodes into your garden can help control pest populations naturally. These insects prey on common garden pests, reducing the need for chemical pesticides.

Hiring Professional Pest Control Services

While DIY methods can be effective for minor infestations, severe pest problems often require professional assistance. Here’s why hiring a professional pest control service can benefit you:

  1. Expertise: Pest control professionals have in-depth knowledge and experience in dealing with various pest species.
  2. Tailored Solutions: They can assess your specific situation and provide customized treatment plans for effective pest control.

Centipede Extermination

When it comes to centipede extermination, Provincial Pest Control offers effective solutions tailored to your specific situation. Our trained professionals will conduct a thorough inspection to identify the source of the infestation. We will then develop a customized plan that may include the following methods:

  2. Sealing Entry Points: We’ll inspect your property for potential entry points and seal them off to prevent centipedes from gaining access.
  3. Reducing Prey Populations: Centipedes feed on other insects, so controlling their food sources can help reduce their numbers. Provincial Pest Control will implement effective pest control measures to target the insects that attract centipedes.

Our garden pest control experts will work with you to develop a customized plan to tackle millipede infestations in your garden. Our methods may include:

  1. Identifying Contributing Factors: We’ll assess your garden’s conditions, such as excessive moisture, organic matter buildup, or other factors attracting millipedes.
  2. Cultural Practices: We’ll guide you on appropriate gardening practices, such as adjusting irrigation, improving drainage, and reducing mulch thickness, to make your garden less favorable for millipedes.
  3. Natural Remedies: Provincial Pest Control may recommend natural remedies, including the use of beneficial nematodes or specific botanical insecticides, to control millipedes in your garden.
  4. Ongoing Monitoring and Maintenance: Our experts will provide ongoing support to ensure long-term millipede control in your garden, including regular inspections and necessary adjustments to your pest management strategies.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Millipedes

In addition to our professional services, Provincial Pest Control understands that homeowners may prefer to explore natural or DIY approaches for millipede control. While home remedies may provide some relief for minor infestations, they may not be sufficient for severe cases. Nevertheless, we offer the following home remedies that you can try:

  1. Removing Mulch and Debris: Clearing organic debris, leaf litter, and excessive mulch from your garden can help reduce millipede populations.
  2. Maintaining Dry Conditions: Millipedes are attracted to moisture, so ensuring proper drainage and minimizing irrigation can make your garden less hospitable to them.
  3. Applying Natural Deterrents: Some natural substances, such as diatomaceous earth, wood ash, or crushed eggshells, can act as barriers to repel millipedes from specific areas.
  4. Handpicking: If you’re comfortable, manually removing millipedes by hand and relocating them away from your garden can help reduce their numbers.

Remember, while these home remedies may offer temporary relief, professional pest control services are recommended for severe or persistent millipede infestations.

Crawling Insects Types Inspection Killer and Prevention

Crawling Insects: Types, Inspection, Killer, and Prevention

Crawling insects are a common problem for homeowners, and they can cause a lot of trouble if not treated in time. These pesky pests can be found in various places, such as homes, offices, restaurants, and warehouses. They are difficult to spot and can cause damage to property and health. This article will discuss types of crawling insects, inspection, killer, and prevention methods to keep them away from your property.

Types of Crawling Insects

Different types of crawling insects can infest your home or office. The most common ones include ants, cockroaches, bed bugs, termites, fleas, and spiders. Each insect’s unique behaviour and habitat can help you identify and treat them. Below are some of the most common crawling insects you may come across:

Ants: Ants are social insects that live in colonies. They are known for their ability to work together to gather food and protect their nest. Ants are attracted to sugary foods and can be found in the kitchen or pantry.

Cockroaches: Cockroaches are nocturnal insects that can survive in various environments. They can cause human allergies and asthma and carry diseases such as salmonella and E. coli. Cockroaches are attracted to warm and humid places and can be found in bathrooms, kitchens, and basements.

Bed bugs are small, reddish-brown insects that feed on human blood. They are commonly found in beds, furniture, and luggage. Bed bugs can cause itchy bites and be difficult to eliminate.

Termites: Termites are wood-destroying insects that can cause significant damage to your property. They feed on wood and can weaken the structure of your home. Termites can be difficult to detect until they have caused considerable damage.

Fleas: Fleas are tiny, wingless insects that feed on the blood of mammals. They can cause skin irritation and transmit diseases such as typhus and plague. Fleas can be found on pets and in carpets.

Spiders: Spiders are arachnids that can benefit your home by eating other insects. However, some species, such as black widows and brown recluses, can be dangerous to humans.

Inspection for Crawling Insects

To prevent crawling insects from infesting your home, it is essential to inspect your property regularly. Inspection can help you detect crawling insects before they become a significant problem. Below are some inspection tips for crawling insects:

Look for signs of crawling insects: Crawling insects leave behind signs such as droppings, shed skins, and egg cases. Look for these signs in areas where crawling insects are likely to be found, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.

Check for cracks and crevices: Crawling insects can enter your home through small cracks and crevices. Inspect your property for any gaps in windows, doors, and walls.

Inspect your furniture: Bed bugs and fleas can hide in furniture such as sofas and beds. Inspect your furniture regularly, and vacuum it thoroughly.

Check your pets: Pets can be carriers of fleas and other crawling insects. Inspect your pets regularly and use flea medication to prevent infestation.

Crawling Insect Killer

Once you have detected crawling insects, you must use a crawling insect killer to eliminate them. Various types of crawling insect killers include sprays, baits, and traps. Below are some of the most common crawling insect killers:

Sprays: Sprays are the most common form of crawling insect killer. They can be used to eliminate crawling insects on contact. However, sprays can harm humans and pets, so it is important to use them cautiously.

Baits: Baits are a form of insecticide placed in areas where crawling insects are likely to be found. Baits work by attracting insects to the bait and poisoning them. Baits can be effective for long-term control of crawling insects.

Traps: Traps are a non-toxic way to control crawling insects. Traps can be used to catch and kill crawling insects or to monitor their activity. Traps can be placed where crawling insects are likely to be found, such as near food sources or corners.

Prevention of Crawling Insects

Prevention is the best way to control crawling insects. Below are some tips to prevent crawling insects from infesting your home:

Clean regularly: Regular cleaning can help prevent crawling insects from infesting your home. Sweep and vacuum regularly, and wipe down surfaces with a disinfectant.

Seal cracks and crevices: Seal gaps in windows, doors, and walls to prevent crawling insects from entering your home.

Store food properly: Crawling insects are attracted to food sources. Store food in airtight containers and clean up spills and crumbs immediately.

Eliminate standing water: Standing water can attract crawling insects such as mosquitoes. Eliminate standing water in and around your home to prevent infestation.

Use pest control services: If you have a crawling insect infestation, it is best to seek the help of a professional pest control service. A professional can identify the type of crawling insect and provide an effective treatment plan.
