Baldfaced Hornet

Workers are black with white markings. The dorsal surface of the first to third abdominal segments is entirely black.

Nests usually are established in ornamental bushes and trees, electric power poles, houses, sheds, and other structures. Colonies decline in September. The majority of nests contain fewer than 2,000 cells.
