Body is shiny black or dark blue, or it has black and yellow markings.
Nest cells are provisioned with spiders. After the female constructs the
chambers, she captures and paralyzes spiders to place in the cells as a larval food. An egg is laid in each cell, and it is sealed.
Habits. These wasps build mud cells in parallel rows, some species build small rounded nests made of mud. These wasps capture spiders for their nests, including black widow spiders.
