Adults are shiny green or greenish blue and have reddish—brown legs.
Development. Eggs are deposited in batches of up to 28 per day. Hatching is in four to six days. Larval development takes 17 to 30 days. Larvae migrate to dry locations to pupate. Adults can live about 14 months. There are two or three generations per year.
Habits. This beetle infests drying meats in long storage or curing meats in a prolonged smoking process.
