Adults are about one and one—half inches long, and are shiny dark brown to reddish brown. Adults have small wings that are almost indistinct. Nymphs are reddish brown and have pale yellow margins on the thoracic segments; the abdomen is uniformly dark brown to blackish brown.
Egg case is brown and contains about 24 eggs; egg cases are often glued onto surfaces outdoors.
Habits. This cockroach occurs primarily in natural locations, but also in residential landscaping that includes dense vegetation. It enters houses but breeds outdoors. Adults can give off an offensive odor when disturbed.
